The Power of Positive Thinking

In April I posted about my garden. Technically, I posted about my awesome garden. At that point it was just a mound of dirt with some chicken wire around it, but I was hoping to invoke the power of positive thinking by referring to it as awesome, so that I would be properly motivated to plant it and take care of it. I loves me some home grown tomatoes, so the payoff should be worth the effort.

I am leaving today for a vacation at the shore for a week (in Pittsburgh we always said "the beach", but now I've converted to the way everyone on the other half of the state says it, "the shore"), and I wanted to take some pictures to show the progress, and also so that I can see how much it grows while I'm gone. I thought I'd better post them now, since it looks so good.

I took some even better pictures, but Blogger is ornery this morning and will only let me post this one. But trust me, the tomato plants are looking perfect. Hopefully we'll get a bit of rain here while I'm gone, and when I return in a week they'll look even better!

Your garden does indeed look gorgeous! What kind of tomatoes are you growing?

JD--we have 5 different kinds of tomatoes, 11 plants in all. I just love some of the names:

Early Girl (she's looking lovely, hopefully she'll be true to her name and will produce soon, she's quite large)
Golden Boy (yellow tomatoes, obviously)
Big Boy (just regular I'm assuming, but with a name like that I had to buy them)
Sweet Million (cherry tomatoes)
Hybrid Tomato (boring, normal tomatoes)

I can't wait for the first one!

I started a garden sometime last summer, and then we got hit with that microburst.

I took that as a sign not to dabble in horticulture.

Love those tomato plant names! I shall send good vibes to your garden, that when you return, it runneth over with yummy produce! Have fun on your vacation.

I think those kind of look like Canibus plants. LOL Just kidding! I wish I could grow tomatoes. Unfortunately I can't even keep a cactus alive.

Rachel-- I've had bad gardening experiences before, too. Looks like this one may work out, though. Maybe you should try again!

Kathy-- Your vibes most definitely worked! (That plus my next door neighbor apparently was very diligent about watering, that probably helped too.) I will take a new picture soon, it's amazing how huge everything got in a week.

Corrina--I guess from a distance they might, But once you get up close, they are clearly tomatoes. The smell is a dead giveaway.
